It seems like Malaysia is set to brace a "chicken and egg situation" as news of a price hike for both produce have surfaced.
According to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the hike will occur after Feb. 4, following the end of the Malaysian Family Maximum Price Scheme.

Nanta noted that the move was made during an engagement session between his ministry, the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry and Finance Ministry in Putrajaya on Jan. 6.
On the reasoning, he justified that the situation was contributed by three main factors: livestock prices, the cost of importing chicken feed and cost of operation.
In the event of the price hike, Nanta asked for the public's understanding by reassuring that his ministry will continue seeking the best efforts to protect the interests of consumers, traders and breeders alike.
Will this move be a "win-win" situation for all? Only time will tell.
