The "City of Canals" is under threat...by pesky seagulls, that is!
In the past few years, Venice has been plagued by the food-stealing creatures, alarming both locals and tourists alike. According to Enrico Mazzocco- manager of the Monaco & Grand Canal Hotel- a seagull even once snatched an ENTIRE steak right off a newly-served plate.
So, how do the Venetians fend off these pesky winged creatures? Well for some hotels, they've resorted to providing guests with orange water pistols! Seagulls are particularly intimidated by the bold hue, whereas the water pistol is meant to be used only when things get out of hand. If not, just wave the prop and they'll "shoo" away in no time.
