After eating the dish Ayam Masak Merah in the hostel canteen during dinner, 60 students from Form 1 to 5 suffered severe food poisoning.
According to A. Sivanesan of the Perak Health, Human Resources, National Integration and Indian Community Affairs Office, the students started experiencing stomach ache, diarrhoea and headache around 8 pm.
It is believed that the district health office's mobile medical team attended to the affected students.
According to them, the chicken dish served for iftar had a foul smell and the raw chicken meat might have been spoiled before cooking.
As of now, the hostel's canteen has been ordered to be closed for three days for cleaning work.
The Ministry of Education is also being asked to take swift legal action against those responsible.
Hopefully, the students will recover soon!
