There are rumours circulating that teenage girls from the age of 14 have been selling graphic images of themselves wearing school uniforms for as little as RM4.90 on the well-known social media app TikTok. To entice other people to buy what they offer, these girls are seen in the photos posing in various provocative gestures like pulling up their skirts, teasing, and displaying their cleavage and hips. Ain, a 16-year-old girl, admitted to selling 15 of her photos.
This issue has been brought to the attention of Communication and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil who emphasized that TikTok needs to operate by Malaysian guidelines and laws.
" I emphasize that TikTok's compliance with Malaysian laws is still not satisfactory, and this must be corrected immediately."
Many online users want this problem to end because they are concerned about these youngsters' safety and upbringing.
