An incident in Johor Bahru involved a 13-year-old boy falsely claiming he was nearly kidnapped by individuals in a white van.
The incident reportedly occurred near a school in Taman Ulu Tiram.
The boy alleged that a masked man wearing sunglasses and armed with a knife approached him, but he managed to escape before being abducted.
However, Seri Alam District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd. Sohaimi Ishak stated that their investigation revealed the kidnapping claim was untrue.
The teenager fabricated the story to avoid being scolded by his mother for coming home late from school.
The alleged incident took place in front of a fast-food restaurant as the boy was returning home after school at 6:45 PM on June 3rd.
The police received the report from a 49-year-old local woman who expressed concern about her son's alleged kidnapping threat.
Authorities reminded parents to always monitor their children's whereabouts and movements, both inside and outside the home.
Yesterday, the police detected a viral post on Facebook containing the police report with the caption "Kes Culik Budak Bukit Tiram", but the post has since been deleted.
