With Eid approaching, long-distance bus tickets have become scarce, leaving many unable to make the journey back home. Among them is a young man, studying away from his hometown, who couldn't hold back his tears at the thought of missing the festive season with his family.


A robust young man was captured on camera wiping away tears while having a meal. The video, shared on TikTok by user @jaiho0._, quickly resonated with viewers, sparking an outpouring of sympathy and solidarity. Many offered well wishes and hoped for a kind soul to assist him in reuniting with his family for Eid celebrations.


In the 32-second clip, the young man's cheerful demeanour suddenly fades as he lowers his head to eat, overcome by a wave of sadness. Tears stream down his face as he struggles to hold back his emotions, a scene that tugs at the heartstrings of viewers.

Within just two days, the video garnered over 180,000 likes, 3,855 comments, and 1.9 million views. Many viewers offered words of comfort and support, with some even offering rides to help him reach his hometown.

Several netizens shared their own experiences of being unable to secure tickets to return home for Eid, expressing solidarity with the young man's plight.


"I couldn't get a ticket either." "My hometown is in Sarawak, and I can't go back for Eid." "With rising prices, I've spent all my money, even the bus fare."


One netizen, Natiya, recounted her struggles while studying in Penang, where she faced sold-out tickets to return to Shah Alam, Selangor. She recounted traveling to Alor Setar, Kedah, in hopes of securing a ticket, and if unsuccessful, heading to Ipoh, Perak.


"When I found a bus to Kuala Lumpur in Ipoh, I bought a ticket and got on board... I did everything I could to get back home!"

It's understood that the young man hails from Terengganu and is currently studying in Kedah. Following the viral spread of the video depicting his emotional turmoil over the unavailability of tickets, he unexpectedly received assistance. As Eid approaches, he will now be able to return home as desired, the user who posted the video shared the heartening news in the comments section.
