WHO Says Coronavirus Is NOT Becoming Less Potent

02-Jun-2020
By Huan Lui

Doctors in Italy recently claimed that the coronavirus is becoming weaker and much less lethal. The head of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Alberto Zangrillo said on a television interview that the virus ‘no longer clinically exists’.

However, his claim has prompted doubts by the WHO’s epidemiologists and other virologists.

According to them, there is no evidence that the virus has become less potent. Its method of transmission as well as the severity of the disease it caused does not show any obvious changes.

“We need to be exceptionally careful not to create a sense that, all of a sudden, the virus, by its own volition, has now decided to be less pathogenic. It is not the case at all,” said WHO emergencies director Michael Ryan during a press briefing.

Looks like the battle against the deadly virus is still long. Which is why we should really take good care of ourselves. Practice good hygiene and keep the virus at bay.
