Exercising and working out is extremely beneficial. At least 3 times a week is the minimum suggested amount of working out we should do. Not only does it help us reduce stress, it can build our mental and physical strengths. However, some people might've taken it a little too far and this will end up hurting more than it helps. Here are 4 ways you can tell if you need to start dialing down a little.
You're Too Scared to Miss A Day
"If I stop working out for one day, then my muscles will turn to fat and my body will look bad." Yes, working out is good for slimming down and buffing up, but we shouldn't fear the downsides of not working out. Always remember why you started in the first place and keep that as a positive motivation instead of being negatively pushed by the thought of your body being out of shape. There's no wrong in missing a day or two to get enough rest or deal with more important things in life.
You Get Hurt A Lot
It's natural to have your muscles sore after a workout, but if you get aches where you're not supposed to or pains in your joints, then it might be worth reconsidering your methods. Working out without proper stance or posture can cause long term damage to your body, especially if you have suffered injuries before, such as during sports. Your body does a good job of letting you know when something's wrong, so don't just think that you can exercise through any pain.
You Work Out So You Can Overeat
Again, this comes down to the reasons and motivations behind working out. If you think you can eat unhealthily and excessively just because you work out, then you're wrong because a healthy diet is more important than you think to obtain your ideal body! Also, having this idea will result in a never ending cycle of gaining and losing weight which will cause a strain to your body.
You're Overspending
Before even starting to work out, many people like to have a complete set of "gear". So, they start buying new sports shoes, sportswear, headbands, and wireless earphones. Some even start consuming things they think might enhance their performance such as protein shakes or energy drinks. If you catch yourself doing this, remember that there are tons of people out there achieving ideal effects without the need of expensive food and gear, so only buy what you really need.
Everyone should work out, not for the sake of eating more or showing off, but to keep your body in your ideal form and your mind sharp. However, be sure not to go overboard and allow your body enough time to rest and recover. This will ensure the best results with minimal effort!
