Promoting vaccination programmes and spreading awareness has been something that some of us are doing for free, but apparently, it’s a paid job.
The Ministry of Finance has provided an allocation of RM20,000 for each Member of Parliament to promote the National Covid-19 Immunization Program, including members of the opposition.
Poor attendance by the public has prompted this initiative, seeing that only 44.7 percent of 4,273,288 citizens had registered to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
This decision, however, has enraged Malaysians.
wtf is this? https://t.co/mCmFpS24zD

@Khairykj what makes you think adding 20k more into the pocket will make them promote vaccine? Dahlah korang dah dapat vaksin. Parlimen tak bersidang sidang, sedap sedap dapat 20k free. Cases makin tinggi, yang marhaen ni dapat apa?? https://t.co/LZvxZ9JRdI

Instafamous, celebritweeps & influencers can do this for 1/10th of that amount with possibly 50x the reach. They have captive audiences that can also help register their older relatives. https://t.co/U5x2NVaLLF

Time for a career change to be an MP

Jokes aside what the flying fuck is this
MP already overpaid and they still get 20k to promote vaccination??
Rakyat can do that for free https://t.co/p3xnEpaFcA
Last April, prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the government is in short of funds as a result of Covid-19's various stimulus packages that were introduced to assist the public. Understandingly, these reactions from the people shortly after the announcement was made, were not entirely baseless.
222 x 20k =4.44mil just to promote vacc, hope the funds will be used wisely n will increase registration https://t.co/Zbsa3HY30E

@SyedSaddiq maybe can use this fund to provide transport for people who have difficulty to get the vaccination centre .

I’m sure it will beneficial especially for district areas and will boost vaccination rates. https://t.co/lWS6lC2Ine
However, this initiative could also benefit those less privileged to have more access to vaccination if done right, as pointed out by the tweets above. As always, let's put in a good hope that this initiative will bear good results and better turn-ups for the nation's Covid-19 vaccination programmes.
As cases are reaching its 7K mark, the highest ever recorded in Malaysia, Malaysians are desperate to be vaccinated. If you're aged 18 and above, don't forget to register for the Astrazeneca vaccine here. registrations will open at 12 PM sharp, tomorrow (26th May).
