It is certainly convenient to keep certain items such as lighters on hand. However, storing them in the car can sometimes put you in danger. Below is a list of items that you should never, ever keep in the car.
#1. Lighter
Lighter contains liquid butane, which is flammable and explosive. It will cause an explosion especially when the volume exceeds 55°C. The temperature inside the car will be higher, even if the outdoor temperature is 30°C. Hence, it can easily cause an explosion if there is a lighter in the car.
#2. Carbonated drinks
The carbon dioxide and amino acids in the carbonated drinks are prone to chemical reactions (eg. produce peculiar smells and the bottle become swollen when it is shaken) after being exposed to ultraviolet radiation or high temperature. It can easily cause an explosion if the condition under the principle of expansion and contraction is fulfilled.
#3. Plastic water bottles
The high temperatures will cause harmful substances from the bottle to release into the water. Long-term drinking of this kind of water will increase toxins in the body. In addition, the surface of the plastic water bottle can gather light easily. If the sun shines directly on the surface of the mineral water bottle for a long time, the temperature of the mineral water will increase. Fire is likely to occur if the mineral water bottle is placed on the sitting pad.
#4. Mobile phone/power bank/any electronic devices
Mobile phones, power banks, or any items composed of circuit boards and other electronic parts, may bulge or even explode if exposed to the sun for a long time. The chance of causing a fire is even higher if refurbished batteries are used by some illegal businesses when producing power banks.
#5. Disinfectants
Disinfectants contain alcohol, which is flammable and explosive. Spraying directly on the car seat will not only damage the leather interior, but it may cause a fire if the car is in high temperature or someone smokes inside the car. It is recommended to spray on a towel or toilet paper before wiping the car seats.
#6. Perfume
Most car owners like to put perfume in the car to deodorize the car. However, there are too many low-quality perfumes on the market. If you stay in the car for a long time, you will be affected by chemical fragrances, and you will experience dizziness and vomiting. In addition, avoid putting perfume in the position of the windshield. This is because perfumes can easily explode when they are exposed to high temperatures.
#7. Glasses
Remember not to keep your glasses in your car. On especially sunny days, the rays of the sun can cause the plastic of the frame to melt and bend, enduringly damaging the fit. Besides, it can cause a fire if the glasses focus the light on the sitting seat.
#8. Plastic toys
Many car owners like to put a few exquisite little plastic toys in the car. However, these plastic toys are made of PVC materials, which are not heat resistant and they can cause fire easily when encountering high temperatures.
#9. Aerosol Cans
Things stored in aerosol canssuch as hair sprays, insecticides, or disinfectants are flammable. The contents in the tank are highly flammable, and the metal tank body is very easy to explode due to heat.
#10. Drug
Most of the medicines are recommended to be kept in a cool place because high temperatures will cause the medicine to lose its effects.
