As our Paralympians were set to fly off for their games a few days ago, netizens and the media all gathered at the airport for this special occasion. Including local radio station, MIX FM who was ever ready to show support at wee hours in the morning, cheering on our athletes at their send off.
This was after the radio station conducted interviews with some of the Paralympians.
Among them was, Abdul Razzaq Abdul Rahman.
Being the only male boccia athlete from Malaysia to make it to the Paralympics in Paris in 2024 in the BC4 division, Abdul Razzaq has grown to be a well-liked and an inspiring figure in the country's athletic community.
Though the support from our dear Malaysians are simply amazing, nothing beats the support of a father, through it all.
Captured by MIX FM through their TikTok, while Abdul Razzaq was seen giving his interview to a radio host, his father stood by and watched him.
But what made netizens so emotional was not just that the father was by his side, but more so, the smile on his face, gleaming with joy at his son's achievements.
And he never stopped smiling.
@mixdotmy Aww! were tearing up now! Abdul Razzaqs dad is so proud of his son! Hell be representing Malaysia for Mens Individual BC4 (Boccia) #MIXLifeAsAParalympian #Paralympics2024 #Paralympics Open Arms (feat. Travis Scott) - SZA
A gesture so small but so meaningful.
Netizens flooded the comments of the video, many expressing how this has touched their hearts and some even said it made them cry!
"Behind every special child, there's parents who never gave up!"
Oh, our hearts!
Boccia is a precision ball sport designed for athletes with physical disabilities, that demands incredible skill and focus as players aim to get their ball as close as possible to a white target ball.
We wish Abdul Razzaq the absolute best of luck at the games!
