Since the government imposed a RM1,000, then changing to RM10,000 fine, on anyone going against government-established SOPs, netizens have been all the rage. From fining the less fortunate, to students who clearly didn't have 10k in their pockets, no one was in accordance with the rules.
Due to that, the government hastened a meeting on the matter, and as of today (March 17), the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) announced the 'new and improved' set of rules.
Seeing the fact that not even one person, was able to afford the 10k fine enforced on the 11th of March, the government has decided to lower the rates accordingly.
1. First-time offenders/individuals who do not use their facemasks - RM1,500
2. Those who do not register/scan the MySejahtera App - RM1,500
3. Those who do not adhere to social distancing measures - RM1,500
4. Individuals who go to nightclubs/pubs - RM10,000
5. Those managing nightclubs/pubs - RM50,000
According to the government, all offences could be discounted (based on deliberations), for those who are less than able (OKU), students, B40 individuals and those facing chronic illnesses.
Besides that, anyone who settles their fine in less than a week from the date issued, would be given a 50% discount.
