A 25-minute long video of a local shaman from Perak performing a bizarre ritual alongside a woman who calls herself “Puteri Zaleha" has gone viral yesterday.
Due to the atrocity of that ritual, Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) will thus open an investigation paper against Ibrahim Mat Zin known, or better known as Raja Bomoh related to ceremonies he performed that contradict with Islamic teachings, which took place in Dataran JPS , Teluk Intan.
The ceremony was described as a flood ritual, which he claimed could ward off the natural disaster. Puteri Zaleha, on the other hand, claimed that her divination showed that Teluk Intan would be flooded and thus the ceremony was an attempt to avoid the disaster.
Director of JAIPk, Datuk Mohd. Yusop Husin said the actions of the two individuals are now being investigated under Section 14 of the Perak Syariah Criminal Enactment 1992 for denigrating and insulting the religion of Islam.
"People are advised not to be influenced by the act and stay away from superstitious practices that are in conflict with Islamic teachings," he said. In the video, Raja Bomoh claimed that the ceremony was an ancient practice performed not only in Teluk Intan but throughout Malaysia, the entire Malay archipelago, and apparently, the whole world.
