Chinese New Year happens only once in a year, and it is a time for us to bond with our families and friends. Here are 7 fun games we have selected that you can play during Chinese New Year! 

Indian Poker (variation)

1 Pick a game host

2 Write down words on a bunch of cards, one word per card

3 Each player is dealt with one card that they show only to other players

4 Players are not allowed to mention the words on their own card but should lead others to do that

5 The player who says the word on his card loses and will receive punishment 

Clap At 7

1 Start with someone counting from 1

2 Other players must take turn to count

3 When the number reaches 7 or its multiples, the player should clap his/her hands instead

4 This continues until someone messes up

Tip:The game is more fun with more players.

Truth or Dare

1 Make a list of questions

2 Come up with exciting and fun dares

3 Start with player 1 asking another person (player 2) “truth or dare”

4 If player 2 chooses “truth”, he will have to answer a question from player 1

5 If player 2 chooses “dare”, he will have to do the dare

6 The player chosen by player 1 can be the next player, or player 1 can spin a bottle in the middle to choose the next player

I Love You VS Cheeky

1 Arrange yourselves in a circle

2 Players can only say “I love you” to the person on his/her left, and “Cheeky” to the person on his/her right

3 When someone says the wrong line, he/her is out.

*The same 2 players can only respond to each other continuously for 3 times*

Eat Apples

1 Divide yourselves into groups of two

2 One group member’s hands must rest to the sides or his/her back

3 The other group member will feed the first member apple blindfolded

4 The group that finishes the apple first wins!

Tip: You may also use other fruits eg. watermelon

Dynamite

1 Sit in a row

2 Two people of the opposite ends will start to flip a cup each

3 When a player flips a cup successfully, he/she can pass it to another player

4 The player who “own” two cups lose

 Tip: Try to pass the cup to another player as quickly as possible

Who is The Spy

1 Each player is dealt with a card with a word

2 Only one card is written with a different word

3 The player who gets this card will be the Spy (but he/she may not know it in the first round)

3 Players must use a word or phrase to describe the word on his/her card in turns, without mentioning the word on the card

4 Players should point out someone that he/she thinks is the Spy after every round

5 The player with the most votes will be “killed” 

6 The game continues until the Spy is found

7 If only 2 players are left, where one of them is the Spy, the Spy wins
