Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia are currently conducting search and rescue work with the "Surface Searching" method around the Penang Bridge area after what is believed to be a suicide attempt.
Upon arriving at the scene, a red Perodua Alza car (Registration No. PNU 6593) was found on the bridge near KM 3.4 with the engine still on.
After comparing the scene to other suicide attempts, it is believed that the driver of the car abandoned the vehicle and jumped into the sea.
As of this article, search and rescue efforts are still being conducted and little to nothing is known about the identity of the victim.
The firemen have opened a post at Mak Mandin Marine Fire Unit, Butterworth. Search and rescue operations are also being assisted by PDRM and APMM.
