According to Professor of Medicine at the University of East Anglia, Professor Paul Hunter, he predicts that the world will finally return to normal in April next year after the Covid-19 virus has likely been weakened and will simply be reduced to just another common cause of the flu.

The health expert said that although COVID-19 will have gained a permanent status, it will be a virus of no concern by April 2022— no more than a common fever. "It is a disease that will not go away even though the cases of severe infections will be reduced," he explained. "Sooner or later, we will eventually need to allow individuals infected with COVID-19 to live a normal life as they did prior to having the flu.

That being said, with the recent outbreak of the Omicron variant this prediction does seem too good to be true. However, although Omicron has been found to be significantly more contagious than Delta, the variant is milder with a risk of hospitalization between 50% to 70% lower than the Delta variant.

Let's hope this prediction comes to fruition because frankly, we've had ENOUGH.
