Local influencer and entrepreneur Aleeya Zailan recently expressed her disgust and shock after discovering dark brown tap water at a five-star hotel in Melaka. On Saturday (Aug 10), Aleeya took to Instagram to share the disturbing experience, posting two videos that showed murky, brown water filling up sinks and a bathtub. Describing it as the filthiest water in the world, Aleeya mentioned that she suffered an itchy and sore throat after brushing her teeth with the water.
Disturbed by the situation, Aleeya voiced her concerns about the impact on her children, who had bathed in the contaminated water. However, she did not disclose the hotel's name or location in her posts.
After her videos went viral, Aleeya faced backlash from netizens who accused her of defaming the hotel for publicity. In response, Aleeya clarified through Instagram stories that she had no need for such tactics, given her successful cosmetic brand. She emphasized that her intention was to hold the hotel accountable and to ensure better service quality. As a Malaccan, she expressed concern about the potential negative impact on the state's image among tourists.
Aleeya also revealed that she received numerous messages from others who had experienced similar issues, indicating that this problem has persisted since last year.
