A nine-year-old girl tragically passed away yesterday, believed to have choked on a rambutan fruit.
Deputy Superintendent Norzamri Abd Rahman, the Chief of Maran District Police, mentioned that the victim, Nur Iman Fitriah Muhamad Nizam, was confirmed deceased by the Pekan Tajau Health Clinic in Maran around 8 PM.
"Doctors at the clinic removed the rambutan fruit from the victim's mouth before the body was sent to Jengka Hospital for further examination," he stated.
"An autopsy conducted earlier this morning confirmed that the victim's cause of death was due to respiratory obstruction caused by an object," he added during a phone call today.
Norzamri explained that the police classified the incident as a sudden death. The victim, residing in Kampung Sungai Ling Luar, Maran, was also a third-year student at Paya Pasir National School (SK). Her remains were laid to rest at Bukit Cempedak Cemetery in Maran earlier this morning.
