Remember those school days? Whether you were the popular kid, part of your own group minding your business, or the quiet one, some of us have experienced being teased and bullied in school. Some of these experiences can even traumatise us as adults.
Recently, a video went viral on social media showing a Form 3 student badly bruised all over his body and face after being beaten by a group of men, including 20 school students, at the end of last month. The incident happened in a public area at Pantai Puteri, Tanjung Kling. Police investigation revealed that the incident on March 29th stemmed from a misunderstanding and dissatisfaction regarding past teasing incidents.
"A 65-year-old woman lodged a police report on March 31st after discovering that her 15-year-old grandson was assaulted by a group of men known in Pantai Puteri the day before, around 1 p.m. The complainant then took her grandson for treatment at Melaka Hospital, and the victim is still receiving treatment," the authorities said. Further commenting, the police conducted investigations and arrested 23 individuals aged 15 to 20 in the Tanjung Kling, Malim, and Tanjung Minyak areas yesterday to assist in the investigation.

They added that all suspects under 18 were students from different schools in the Tanjung Kling area, and the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting, which carries a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment, a fine, or both if convicted.
"Police also seized three helmets and a stick believed to have been used in the incident," he said, adding that all suspects were released on police bail after recording their statements.
