Social activist Kuan Chee Heng, popularly known as Uncle Kentang, has made a heartfelt plea to the recent winners of the Sports Toto jackpot, urging them to contribute towards purchasing ambulances for underprivileged Malaysians in need of urgent medical transportation.
The call follows the announcement of three Sports Toto jackpot winners who collectively secured multimillion-ringgit prizes, attracting nationwide attention. Uncle Kentang proposed that each winner donate RM300,000, the cost of a brand-new ambulance, to support this crucial cause.
For those who may prefer a more economical option, a second-hand ambulance costs approximately RM220,000. Uncle Kentang emphasized the importance of this initiative, explaining that many elderly individuals suffering from severe illnesses, including strokes and cancer, depend on ambulances for regular hospital visits.
"These patients are often bedridden and come from poor families," he explained. "Without an ambulance, their chances of receiving the medical care they desperately need are slim."
Expressing hope that the winners would respond to his call, Uncle Kentang also extended his appeal to corporations and businesses, inviting them to sponsor or contribute towards the procurement of ambulances.
"We need everyone's help to bring kindness and relief to the sick and poor," he said, encouraging broader participation in the initiative."
Sports Toto, a widely recognized lottery in Malaysia, recently made waves with its massive jackpot prizes, which amounted to millions of ringgit.
