Fans of G-Dragon were left disheartened and furious after failing to secure tickets to the K-pop icons upcoming solo concert in Kuala Lumpur, scheduled for 19 and 20 July 2025 at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil.
General ticket sales for G-Dragons highly anticipated Übermensch World Tour in Kuala Lumpur opened at 2pm on 29 May, following two days of exclusive pre-sales for fan club members and Hong Leong Bank VISA Credit Cardholders. However, within minutes of the sale going live, fans began sharing their frustrations online, many of them stuck in virtual queues that refused to move despite logging on at the exact moment ticketing opened.
Taking to social media under the hashtag #GDRAGONinKL, countless fans voiced their outrage and accused the concert organiser, Star Planet, of poor management and failing to curb scalpers, many of whom allegedly used bots to snatch up tickets in bulk.
Ticket scalping, the act of buying tickets in large quantities to resell them at inflated prices, quickly became the heart of the controversy. Social media posts showed individuals boasting about acquiring hundreds of tickets, some displaying spreadsheets with up to 300 tickets, and offering them for resale starting at RM3,000 a stark contrast to the original prices:
VVIP- RM1,339
VIP- RM1,239
CAT 1- RM999
CAT 2- RM799
CAT 3- RM459
One particularly outrageous resale listing showed a ticket priced as high as RM28,000. Popular marketplace Carousell also saw listings for CAT 1 tickets (originally RM999) marked up to RM2,750, and VIP tickets being resold for RM2,800 to RM3,000.
In response to the backlash, Star Planet issued a statement on 30 May acknowledging reports of suspicious bulk purchases and reaffirmed their stance against ticket scalping.
"It has come to our attention that there's been multiple suspected cases of ticket scalping. These purchases are currently under further investigation," the statement read.
"Any tickets identified as being scalped or resold at inflated prices will be voided at the organiser's sole discretion, without prior notice or refund."
The organiser added that tickets voided due to scalping will be re-released for sale through official channels and urged fans not to buy from unauthorised resellers.
Despite the assurances, many fans continue to express disappointment, calling for stronger measures to ensure fair access for genuine concert-goers and demanding greater accountability from organisers when it comes to handling high-demand events.
