Hotpot is a comfort food to most. People bond over hotpot. Hotpot's just simply irresistible. We've had a variety of hotpot bases to choose from. Although choosing the correct base is important but do you know that the dipping sauce is equally important? When you've got the right dipping sauce, it makes the whole eating process heavenly (not kidding here, I take my hotpot sesh very seriously!)
Today, we'll breakdown the dipping sauces into 8 types (you can thank me later).
1. THE CLASSIC GARLIC
If you're a fan of garlic, this is THE dipping sauce for you! And if you're new to dipping sauces, this sauce is definitely a must try. Though it's 4 very basic ingredients, the fragrant smell of garlic coupled with the chilli is guaranteed to make you dip twice!

Combine 4 teaspoons of chilli, 2 teaspoon of spring onion, 2 teaspoons of garlic, 2 teaspoons of coriander, 2 teaspoons of black vinegar and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.
3. CLEAR BROTH DIPPING SAUCE
If you love clear broth hotpot base, this dipping sauce is for you. Clear broth hotpot base generally taste mild. If you're trying to pack up the flavours, then this sauce is a go to.

4. SESAME SAUCE
All in all, this is my favourite dipping sauce. The fragrant nutty smell coupled with the crunchy aftertaste from the chopped peanuts - Yums! Pro tip: Try it with tad bit of chilli oil to make it even fragrant.
Combine 4 teaspoons of sesame sauce, 3 teaspoons of chopped peanuts, 2 teaspoons of spring onion, 2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of black vinegar and 1/4 teaspoon of red bean curd.
5. DRY DISH DIP
Yes, you see it right, it's a dry dip, no wet ingredients at all. This particular dip enhances the flavour of the meat as you can fully taste the spices. It's like a dry rub basically. If you've not try this before, it's highly recommended!
Combine 2 teaspoons of chilli powder, 2 teaspoons of spiced salt, 2 teaspoons of chopped peanuts and 2 teaspoons of white sesame.
Since CNY is approaching, try these dipping sauces during your hotpot session! Bon Appetite!
