GEORGE TOWN - After to failing to control his emotions, a man stabbed his wife before jumping from the 12th floor of an apartment in Paya Terubong here today.
The incident at about 7.30am was noticed by the public who found the 54-year-old man covered in blood and unconscious on the ground floor of the apartment.
Acting North East District Police Chief Superintendent V. Saravanan said the misunderstanding between the couple came to light about five hours after the discovery when an elderly woman informed that there was no response from her daughter who was the wife of the fallen man.
He said police then rushed to the victim's house on the 12th floor where they found the 46-year-old woman covered in blood on a bed in the room.
"The results of the examination on the body found that there were two stab wounds on the victim's neck and thighs apart from the discovery of a knife believed to have been used to kill the victim.
"The results of our investigation do not rule out the possibility of the suspect stabbing his wife before jumping," he told reporters at the scene today.
According to Saravanan, the cause of the incident is believed to be due to a misunderstanding between the couple who are workers at a factory.
"The couple has an 18-year-old child and at the time of the incident, they were the only two at home because their child was at the grandmother's house in Air Itam," he said.
The bodies of the two victims were sent to the Penang Hospital here for autopsy.
