Can you imagine paying more than RM1.20 for a roti canai? Well, you might need to start facing such a reality soon.
Despite the government's reassurance that Malaysia will not be affected by India's wheat export ban, roti entrepreneurs nationwide have already started experiencing ridiculous price hikes on wheat flours. As reported by Free Malaysia Today, Malaysian Indian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association (Presma) president Jawahar Ali Taib Khan had expressed that roti sellers are currently facing the consequences and are forced to pay RM65 for a 25kg pack of wheat flour when it used to only cost RM45.
Apart from the price increase in local goods and necessities, we'll also likely suffer similar inconvenience when it comes to Malaysia's most beloved delicacy AKA roti canai. In times like these, it'd have been really fortunate if money did grow on trees.
