"This egg slice is so thin, it's pitiful!"
A man named Ashraff posted a photo on Facebook, claiming that he recently purchased a pack of nasi lemak, which contained not even half or a quarter of an egg but a small piece of egg white, leaving him in disbelief.
"This is what I get for an RM2 nasi lemak..."
According to the photo he shared, the portion of this small pack of banana leaf nasi lemak is very small, almost only enough for two bites. The nasi lemak only had sambal, a thin cucumber slice, and a slice of egg white, without even any anchovies.
As prices of various goods rise, social media often sees diners complaining about reduced portions and high prices. Ashraff's nasi lemak not only has a small portion but also an egg so thin it's pitiful, instantly sparking discussions among netizens.
Some netizens expressed that in the era of inflation, such phenomena have become the "norm." "It seems that in the era of inflation, businesses, to maintain profits without raising food prices, are reducing food portions."
"I thought slicing one egg into 32 pieces was impressive; this is worse!"
Some even said that at least, with the RM2 coconut rice, there is still a small piece of egg white, and one should feel fortunate. "Previously, coconut rice sold by hawkers already had no egg slices or egg threads but instead had egg skins thinner than potato chips."
Simultaneously, some netizens understand the rise in prices and businesses increasing their selling prices, but the condition is that portions should not be reduced.
