The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razakuddin, said that the person who attacked the policemen at Ulu Tiram South Police Station may have ties to the terrorist organization "Jemaah Islamiyah."
"The attack was not impulsive; the suspect had made preparations beforehand," he said.
The attacker is identified as 34-year-old Latif Rodulra, according to Oriental Daily. Unverified sources claim he is an Indonesian national.
The father of the suspect, who was shot dead this morning after breaking into the Ulu Tiram police station in Johor, has been identified as a member of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), according to the Chief of Police.
Following this, the suspect's father was among the five male family members who were taken into custody during a police raid on his home. The suspect's ages ranged from 19 to 62.
In many nightclubs, Jemaah Islamiyah was the perpetrator of the October 12, 2002, bombs in Bali that killed the lives of 202 people.
Furthermore, this group has been charged with several incidents in Southeast Asia.
