A shocking incident has shaken the community of Guar Cempedak, Kedah, after a teenager's fit of rage led to a massive fire that engulfed three houses, resulting in significant property damage. According to Sin Chew Daily, the 19-year-old allegedly started the fire following a heated argument with his family, which, unfortunately, ended in devastating consequences.
The incident occurred on July 28, when the teenager, who has not been named, got into a dispute with his family members. In a fit of anger, he threatened to set the house on fire, a threat that he unfortunately followed through on. The resulting blaze quickly spread, engulfing not only his own home but also two neighboring houses.
Locals reported that the fire was intense, with flames engulfing the structures rapidly. The Fire Department received a distress call at 10 pm, and a team of 18 firefighters from the Guar Chempedak and Yan Fire and Rescue stations rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found three houses already ablaze, with two of them suffering 70% damage and the third house sustaining 5% damage. A Proton Wira car and two motorcycles were also destroyed in the fire.
Fire Superintendent Johari Bar Azwar, the senior operations commander of the Sungai Petani Zone 2, stated that the fire was brought under control by 12:47 am. The Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage.
While the full extent of the damage is still being determined, it is clear that the incident has resulted in significant losses for the families affected. The community is left to pick up the pieces and wonder how a moment of anger could lead to such devastating consequences.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of managing emotions and seeking help when needed. It is crucial for individuals, especially young people, to develop healthy coping mechanisms to deal with anger and frustration, rather than resorting to destructive behavior.
