"Sellers Shouldn't Take Advantage of Customers" - Tourist in Cameron Highlands

After being under a lockdown for the longest of time, life has somewhat adjusted back to normal for Malaysians.

Based on reports by Harian Metro, the Diwali holidays as well as the weekend ushered in many tourists to Cameron Highlands, after two long years of loneliness and solitude.

Strings of vehicles were seen visiting the tourist hotspot, accommodations fully-booked, and sellers were thrilled to have customers breathe life back into their businesses.

"It's been grand here with tourists visiting and enjoying Cameron strawberries, after two long years of silence", said a strawberry farmer in the area.

Following SOPs and partaking in activities, many with their families, enjoyed the cool breeze and goods being sold.

However, a tourist also noted that food prices had very much increased, as compared to before the country went on a pandemic-halt.

"Strawberries used to be RM30 per kilogram, but now prices range from RM45-RM60. When packaged, 200 grams used to be sold for RM7 a packet, now that same packet costs RM10", he stated, among other examples.

According to him, the boost in customers shouldn't be used as a reason for businesses to take advantage. Despite customers providing them livelihood, sellers should find creative means to attract people, without resorting to hiked up prices.
