Have You Been Using Social Media the RIGHT Way?

Have you ever considered how much impact words can bring?

From birth to death, the words we hear, read and use is practically what shapes our lives and the lives of those around us.

Only growing in prominence especially in this digital day and age, the importance of knowing what to say and also what not to say, has never been more paramount.

NETHICS or in layman terms, ethics on the internet, is a campaign created by a group of students from USM, Penang.

Their aim is simple-to educate young adults on how to communicate with respect online, as well as provide a platform for anyone who would like to speak out on the matter.

Via online events like TalkSpace and ArtSpace, this group of youth have come out to ask but one question, "Have you been using Social Media, the right way?"

The internet is a vast space, and as great as it has proven to be, the anonymity ushered in with it, has unfortunately also spearheaded social problems like cyberbullying and cyber-harassment.

Becoming so engorged online, the one thing many of us constantly overlook whether consciously or unconsciously, is practicing proper ethics.

As a matter of fact, today more than half of the world's population (52.6%) have at a certain point in their lives, been cyber-harassed.

Take a walk down memory lane, have you ever been a part of that %? If so, visit @nethicsusm and see what you can do about it.

Smarter words, safer net (NETHICS, 2021).
