Women's singles shuttler Goh Jin Wei made an impressive debut at the Paris Olympic Games, narrowly missing out on a spot in the last 16.

The 24-year-old fought valiantly in her second Group H match against South Korea's Kim Ga-eun at Adidas Arena in Port de la Chapelle on Wednesday (July 31).

Jin Wei, ranked 32 in the world, lost the first game 17-21 but bounced back to win the second game 22-20.

In a thrilling decider, she made a superb comeback after trailing 10-15 and even led 20-18, but ultimately fell short, losing 21-23 to the more experienced Ga-eun.

Despite the defeat, Jin Wei's performance has garnered widespread admiration from Malaysians.

Her determination and fighting spirit, even without her coach by her side, have been praised across social media, with many expressing pride and offering words of encouragement.

Jin Wei's resilience and tenacity in her maiden Olympic appearance have made her a standout, proving she has a promising future ahead in badminton.
