UPDATE: The use of MyDigital ID for the MyJPJ app on October 10 has been cancelled, announced Transport Minister Anthony Loke, earlier this evening.
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) recently declared that Malaysians who have not registered for MyDigital ID would not be permitted to use the MyJPJ app after October 10.
For those who don't know, MyDigital ID is a component of the government's effort to streamline online services.
As for the MyJPJ app, it provides digital access to driving permits, road tax, and other services.
To prevent login problems, JPJ recommended users early today, to register as soon as possible through MyJPJ or MyDigital ID.
However, the abrupt announcement was met with criticism from netizens, who saw it as an attempt to coerce more people to use MyDigital ID.
Some expressed dissatisfaction with the brief registration period and technological issues, whereas others made fun of the app's antiquated UI, drawing comparisons to a website from the 1990s.
Though this effort is now abolished, Malaysians are still very much puzzled on why it was even suggested in the first place!
