According to police reports, the attack stemmed from a verbal dispute between the victim and the neighbor of the alleged perpetrator, a 28-year-old man. The victim is said to have insulted the suspect's neighbor, which reportedly triggered the violent retaliation.

"A few hours later, the suspect forcibly entered the woman's house while her husband was away," a police officer stated. "Upon returning home, the husband found his wife lying on the floor, bound at the mouth, hands, and feet. A substance resembling acid had also been poured onto her body."

The victim was immediately rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where she remains in critical condition as medical teams work to stabilize her. Authorities have launched an extensive search for the suspect, who is currently on the run.

Meanwhile, the victims husband has filed a sexual assault case, with law enforcement waiting for a forensic medical report to confirm whether the woman was raped.
