What happens when the luxury of communication slips away from you, leaving behind a trail heavy of words left unspoken?
The Unsent Project explores the heartbreaking territory of the what-ifs and the could-have-beens, a digital monument of a million unsent messages— a collective echoes of concealed confession, if you will.
Artist Rora Blue started this project back in 2015 as a brilliant mockery of second chances where people can express whatever they wish they had sent to their first loves or past connections (be it a distant relative, a friend you don't talk to anymore, or even your childhood pet... it doesn't need to be someone you were romantically involved with.)
Upon submitting a message on the website, you will be asked to choose a color that reminds you of your first love. According to Rora, this is to figure out what color people see love in. This project has so far collected more than a million messages from anonymous senders all around the world. Here are some of our favorites:
