A local man recently took to Facebook to complain about being refused an account by a bank because of his untidy appearance. According to reports, the man claimed that the bank staff demanded him to present his utility bills as well.
In his post, he revealed that he was wearing a torn shirt when he went to the bank to open a savings account, and the bank staff allegedly said they were concerned he might be involved in fraudulent activities.
Undeterred by the rejection, the man went home, took a shower, put on a suit, combed his hair, and returned to the same bank.
This time, the bank staff addressed him differently, and he was able to meet with the branch manager and lodge a complaint against the initial staff. Eventually, he succeeded in opening a bank account.
It is worth noting that banks often require utility bill copies to verify the address and prevent fraudulent activities.
However, netizens have mixed reactions to the man's complaint, with some suggesting that following proper procedures is essential while others express empathy for his experience. In any case, it's a reminder not to judge a book by its cover!
