Seen in a CCTV video posted on X, a man enters a goldsmith located at Bandar Perda, Penang, pretending to be interested in the jewelry sold there.
Shortly after, he begins coughing, in an attempt to shield his face with a face mask.
In that same spilt second, he runs away and steals the gold the staff has handed to him!

However, what the suspect was completely unaware of is that, though yes there are CCTV cameras behind him, he did not know there was one also right in front of him, just not visible to the public's eye.
In the footage, you can clearly see the suspect's face before he puts on his face mask.
Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Helmi Aris, said the 30-year-old suspect was arrested in Sungai Petani on the same day after less than four hours of committing the crime.
Well, DUH.
According to Assistant Commissioner Helmi, the police also managed to recover the jewelry stolen by the suspect.
Thankfully, as in the video it was seen that the staffs even tried to run after the suspect in an attempt to catch him.
"The suspect was charged in court on Wednesday under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft. He pleaded guilty and received a 12-month prison sentence from the date he was arrested," Helmi said in a statement according to Sinar Harian.
This incident occurred on the 31st of May, around 11:50 in the morning.
It is also being reported that the suspect has three past criminal records including one related to drug offences.
