Recently, a Twitter user named @tiniz shared about how DBKL library staff did not allow her 2 refugee kids to enter the library to read. The Twitter user explained how the kids didn't want to borrow any books, they just wanted to read in the premises but was still not allowed by the staff.
Disappointed and shocked by the treatment, the Twitter user says that she will build a library where all kids can come and read.
According to the tweet, the DBKL library spokesperson called after seeing the tweet and apologized. Apparently the staff there used the word "pelarian" and they spokesperson apologized on behalf of the staff for using the word.
Despite the apology, the Twitter user clapped back saying that she accepts the apology but does that mean that the library will now let the kids in to read?
According to her, this isn't the first time an incident like this happened. Last March the same thing happened and at that time the reason they gave was because only vaccinated visitors were allowed in the library. This time, they said the reason was because of a miscommunication.
In the comments section, when a netizen asked the Twitter user why the kids weren't allowed in, she responded saying that they were told that they weren't allowed in because they were refugees.
The tweet which was just posted about an hour ago already had 900+ likes and 500+ retweets. Netizens who read the tweet definitely were not happy all all, here are some of their reactions:
