Remember the recent incident in which a Malaysian woman called out a local travel agency for being blatantly racist to her?

Malaysians were outraged when the agent openly spoke about race and how he was categorizing people based on it during a simple conversation exchange about a tour package. It has since gone viral on the internet.

Well, surprise, surprise, GMC Travel has come out and released a formal apology statement on behalf of the specific staff and the company. In situations like these, it's standard procedure for their publicity team to take precautionary measures when faced with backlash. Especially when It comes to sensitive issues like race.

As things continued to escalate, GMC Travel issued an official statement apologizing for the agent's behavior against the customer, Jess Rajan. The management stated that the agent should not have committed those acts and that they will take serious steps to prevent a similar issue future.

They also emphasized that the staff went against his own common knowledge and disrespected the Malaysian multicultural community.

We spoke with the victim of the incident, Jess, and she explained how the tour agency blocked all her accounts on social media and there was no communication between both parties.

Today, at 2.20 pm she checked again and discovered they had unblocked her.

Since the apology, the tour agency has turned off their comment section, but that didn't Malaysians to voice out their dissatisfaction.

Hopefully, in time, we will learn to be more kind to others and treat everyone equally, regardless of their background. After all, Malaysia is the only country that represents many cultures and religions, therefore we have to be an example to people out there.

For a quick recap, Jess Rajan said she was enquiring about a tour package for her and her family and asked three simple questions regarding it when suddenly the agent started asking what was her race.
