Recently, a Vin Diesel doppelgänger was spotted in the Ramadan Bazaar selling nasi lemak, and now, a Pak Cik Lemang who resembles Super Mario has appeared.
The remarkable similarity between the well-known video game character and the lemang vendor has drawn a lot of comments on Reddit.
For those who were unaware, the Pakcik has been operating a popular lemang stall in Gombak since 1992 under the name of Lemang Daun Lerek Gombak.
Mohd Arifin Zakaria mentioned that people come all the way from Selayang to his stall to get the traditional Hari Raya dish and that he frequently receives orders from online food delivery services as well.
He talked about how, despite vendors jumping on the bandwagon of e-delivery services, the process of making lemang has not changed much technologically.
Aside from lemang, he also offers local foods like ikan keli salai (grilled catfish), daging salai (grilled beef), udang peria (prawns and bitter gourd), and jering (dogfruit). In 2021, his stall sold over 200 sticks in only 30 minutes.
