Another record has been broken and made it to the Malaysia Book of Record, and this time, it's a 2 years old boy! Aavyn Eliseus Ng, who is currently 2 years and 9 months old, and still speaks with a child's voice, possesses an incredibly strong memory. At this age, he already recognizes the flags of 130 countries and has successfully challenged himself to identify 40 flags within a mere 1 minute, earning him a place in Malaysia's record book.
In addition to recognizing 130 out of the total 198 countries worldwide, Aavyn has also mastered the state flags of Malaysia's various states, which doesn't pose any challenge for the young prodigy.
He was awarded the Malaysian Record Certificate on August 3rd this year when he was able to recognize 120 flags.
Aavyn's mother, Erica Ng, mentioned that her son was able to identify 100 flags within just 3 months, a fact that astonished her. She jokingly said that there were many flags she didn't recognize, so she learned alongside her son during the process.
During an interview with "China Press," she stated that the Malaysian flag was the first one Aavyn recognized, followed by the flag of India.
"When he was 2 years and 4 months old, I noticed that he was holding a small Indian flag from his toy collection and yelling 'India, India' at me. It turns out that our maid taught him that."
"I decided to introduce him to a few more flags, and he quickly remembered them all. From then on, I taught him 2 to 3 flags every day until he reached the current total of 130."
Recalling the past, Erica mentioned that even before Aavyn turned 2, he could quickly remember the dance moves of nursery rhymes. It was only after she discovered his ability to remember so many flags that she realized his exceptional memory talent.
Erica described how she used various metaphors or associations to describe the patterns or symbols on the flags to her child, making it easier for him to remember. She emphasized that everything was done in a joyful and relaxed manner.
"For example, on the flag of Brunei, there are two hands, so I would open my hands and place them on both sides of my cheeks, likening it to 'cute,' and my son remembered it."
Erica shared that Aavyn and his twin sister, Aaryn Eliseus Ng, were born through in vitro fertilization (IVF) in 2020. She had wanted children since she was 25, so she worked to secure her finances and maintain her health. By the time she was 30, she was determined to try IVF, and luckily, she succeeded on her first attempt.
"My two children have very different personalities. The older sister loves reading and is more reserved, while the younger brother is lively and adventurous, always exploring new things."
Additionally, she plans to enrol the two children in school next year when they turn 3.
When asked about her expectations for her children, Erica responded, "As long as they grow up healthy and be able to do what they love, that is enough."
