According to Bernama, the Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) District Police Chief ACP Helmi Aris confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955. The investigation was launched after a report was lodged by a fast food restaurant worker at 11:48 pm yesterday.

Earlier today, at 8:40 am, authorities came across a screenshot posted on an X account that showed a picture of a receipt containing offensive remarks directed at religious offences. The police suspect that the incident took place within the SPT district.

In his statement, ACP Helmi Aris mentioned that the police carried out a preliminary investigation based on the information received. This investigation led to an individual who was allegedly linked to the offensive order. However, the individual denied involvement, stating that their personal details and address might have been misused by others.

Checks also found that the fast food restaurants website does not have proper security features to protect users placing orders, he added. This discovery has raised concerns about possible exploitation of user information on online food-ordering platforms.

ACP Helmi further stated that the investigation is still ongoing, and he urged the public not to engage in speculation while the matter is being addressed.
