A devastating scene has unfurled at the Muan International Airport in South Korea, earlier today.
Dubbed the country’s worst domestic aviation disaster, a Boeing 737-800 returning from Bangkok reportedly skidded off the runway and collided into the airport’s perimeter wall.
The Jeju Air 2216 was carrying 175 passengers and crew members. So far, over 60 fatalities have been reported.
As authorities are scrambling to seek further clues and putting immense efforts in handling the incident, local news outlets MNC News reported that a bird strike was seen prior to the flight descent.
Bodies of the victims are still being recovered amidst the wreckage, whereas two survivors - one passenger and one crew member- have been rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Our thoughts and prayers to the bereaved families during this tragic time.
