The 36-year-old communication-equipment seller was detained at the Kluang MACC office on Monday (April 20) at around 2 pm to assists in an investigation into a bribery claim amounting to RM500.

The trader was later released on bail after his statement was taken by the MACC. The case is now being investigated under Section 17(b) of the MACC Act 2009.

The man was issued an RM1,000 compound earlier on ignoring the second notice under Section 109 of the Local Government Act 1976 by running his business during the MCO.

The MACC Investigation Division director Datuk Norazlan Mohd Razali urges the general public to not get involved in any corrupt activities and that the commission is ready to take stern action against any complaints of such received during this MCO period.
