You may have heard this time and time again, "Don't pop your acne!" And it is important to obey this rule. It may be very tempting to touch your acne and pop it, but it comes with serious consequences. If you pop acne on your own, it may leave scars behind or spread the puss to other areas of your skin, which worsens your skin condition. Worse yet, if you pop your acne with dirty hands, it may cause skin infections as well. So best to not touch any part of your face ever.

At times, acne can be itchy. This causes you to subconsciously scratch at it. But keep in mind the ultimate rule when it comes to skincare, do not touch your face with your hands. To relieve the itch, try using an ice cube by putting it on the surface of the acne. This can narrow the blood vessels under the acne and reduce inflammation and swelling, which also relieves pain and discomfort.

Facial cleansers not only clean our face, but they can also be used to treat our skin problems as well. For acne-prone skin, it is suggested to look for cleansers that contain salicylic acid, also called beta-hydroxy acid (BHA). This ingredient can help remove excess oils on our face and remove dead skin cells. It can also reduce swelling and inflammation of acne. However, high concentrations of salicylic acid can be drying to the skin. So be sure to take note before using any products that are unfamiliar to your skin.

Looking for the right skincare products can make a huge difference in your skin quality. It is suggested that salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are suitable for healing acne. These active ingredients help reduce swelling and inflammation which allows the acne to heal effectively. Products like hydrocortisone cream are also beneficial for acne-prone skin. It contains low doses of steroids that can help shrink acne and reduce redness.

Moisturisers are an important part of the skincare routine. They provide a protective layer for our skin against dust and debris while maintaining our skin's hydration. It is recommended for acne-prone skin types to use oil-free moisturisers. These type of moisturisers can be easily absorbed into the skin and does not stay on the surface of the skin, which can cause less breakouts.
