Using 26,000 ice cream sticks to create a 6-by-6-meter rangoli artwork showcasing eminent Tamil scholar-poets, this Indian mother and daughter impressed everyone during a cultural event. Their achievement earned them a spot in the Singapore Book of Records.
Sudha Ravi and her daughter Rakshita were previously known for making a 3,200-square-foot rangoli at the event back in 2016.
Sudha, a rangoli expert often promotes the Tamil culture using rice flour, chalks, and chopsticks to make rangoli but this time around she switched to acrylics on ice cream sticks this time.
Her rangolis have surely piqued the interest of non-Indians in Singapore.
"Sudha and her daughter are involved in Tamil cultural events in Singapore, and this shows that the younger generation is committed to upholding our traditions," said Soundaranayaki Vairavan, a stalwart of Tamil language and culture.
