At least 10 vehicles were severely damaged when the roof structure of a five-story commercial building on Jalan Kuchai Lama collapsed last night. The incident took place around 10:40 PM involving Block A of the Sri Desa Kuchai Building in Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park.
Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor, stated that the initial inspection by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) found no casualties in this incident.

"Upon receiving public notification of the incident, the police took measures to cordon off and close the entire area to prevent any untoward incidents. At the same time, JBPM conducted inspections on each floor and found no casualties involved," he said during a press conference at the scene earlier.
Amihizam mentioned that currently, the police and fire department are taking steps to close off the building from any activity until the relevant authorities confirm its safety.
"I urge the public to stay away from the incident site and refrain from making any speculations. At this moment, the authorities are conducting an investigation to identify the actual cause of the incident since it occurred during good weather and no rain," he said.
Two officers and 10 Brickfields police personnel, along with two officers and 17 JBPM personnel, as well as members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), were involved in the follow-up operations of this incident.
