India is experiencing a heat wave, with temperatures in some areas exceeding 50 degrees Celsius and remaining unbearably hot even at night.

Earlier, a thief broke into a private house in scorching hot weather and fell asleep because the air-conditioning was too comfortable. He was woken up by the police and arrested on the spot.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the incident took place in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India.

A drunk thief broke into an unoccupied house through the front door in the early morning of June 2, 2024, intending to steal. The owner was away at work at the time, so no one was home.

When he was moving the desk and cabinet, he found an air conditioner. Forced by the hot weather, he turned on the air conditioner and lay on the floor, using a cushion as a makeshift pillow. Unexpectedly, he felt so comfortable that he fell asleep.

The next morning, after the neighbour discovered that the front door had been pried open, he immediately notified the homeowner who was working out of town, and the homeowner immediately called the police.

When the police arrived at the scene, they took a photo of the thief sleeping and immediately arrested him. He was charged with theft under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code. The photo showed that the thief was holding a mobile phone in his hand, and there was also a water pump and some cash that he planned to steal. The scene was hilarious.

India is experiencing record high temperatures, with the weather department saying heatwave conditions will continue in northwestern, central and eastern India over the next three days. The capital New Delhi is expected to see a maximum temperature of 44.45 degrees Celsius.
