With the wide varieties of plant in the forest, the air is always pure and make us feel refreshing. However, for city dwellers like us, it is quite hard for us to explore the forest frequently. So, why not we move back those plants and mimic the forest atmosphere at home? Let us go through what types of plants could help us make it?
1. Araceae plants
Araceae family with wide varieties like Monstera Deliciosa, Philodendron, Alocasia, Pothos and peace lily. Araceae family's plants prefer growing under semi-shade to full shade conditions. It is highly tolerant of growing in the different moisture levels of the soil. So, it is very easy to take care of and it will not cost you a lot of time even you have to place a lot of Araceae plants in the house.
2. Orchids
Orchid is able to adapt to different levels of light intensity. It may grow well even under the low light condition So, it is suitable to be placed in the corner area where the natural sunlight hardly could be reached.
Orchid looks elegant and can be used as a decoration in the living room or dining room to create the elegant ambient of your living spaces. However, as the beginner grower, to keep the orchid growing well is not an easy task. The orchid may not be blooming as you wish and the leaves will become yellowish eventually. Therefore, pay more attention to your orchid, it cannot withstand the stagnant water in the parts of the roots. So, using charcoal as the growing media or put some peddles in the bottom of the pots to make good water drainage within the growing media.
3.Fern leaves
Different ferns' varieties with different leave shapes, crown density and leave's veins.
Fern has different leave shapes like Boston ferns, bird nest ferns, asparagus ferns, and elk-horn ferns. So, we may be using the combination of different varieties of ferns to create a green corner in the house. The benefit of planting ferns in the house is they are easy to be maintained. Besides that, you may plant them in different sizes of pots because their sizes are different.
A small pot of fern leaves could be hanging in the balcony while middle size pot could be placed on the table and the big one could be placed in the corner of the house. Moreover, it can adapt to different light density, this characteristic enables the ferns could be placed in every corner in the house.
4. Rubber Plant(ficus elastica)/Fiddle Fig Leaves Tree (ficus lyrata)
If you like big size plants, you may choose the rubber plant, as known as the fiddle fig leaves tree.
It can be placed in the balcony or beside the window where it could receive a higher intensity of light. Its shade could help you reduce the direct sunlight reach to your house and reduce the heat reach to the indoor and reduce the indoor temperature. The roots cannot withstand stagnant water within the parts of the roots. Do not overwatering and make the water drainage good for roots growing.
