TIPS 2 | Create a To-Do List Every Day
Once you are at your work table, write out every task that you would like to complete on that day. Once you complete a task, put a checkmark beside. You will feel a sense of accomplishment seeing the checkmarks at the end of the day. Track and recognize your accomplishments daily is important to motivate yourself.
TIPS 3 | Share To-Do Lists With Your Partner
Marie Kondo shares an arrangement she made with her partner.
"When we got married, my husband and I wrote out every household chore in a shared spreadsheet. When I finished a task, I would put a check next to it – and when my husband noticed it, he would send a simple thank you note (and vice versa)"
She said this process can help each other to understand what kind of tasks are suitable for them and realize the tasks required to live comfortably together. It is important to figure this before having kids so you and your spouse can establish a rhythm together.
TIPS 4 | Clear Your Mind
It is important to clear your mind of unwanted thoughts. Marie Kondo said whenever she needs to sort through her thoughts, she will get a paper and jot down her thoughts, feelings and clarify uncontrollable issues.
She explained that recognizing something that is out of control helps you to calm down.
Keeping your hands busy by doing house chores helps your mind to find stillness.
TIPS 5 | Design a Nighttime Routine
Think about your priorities and focus on that in your nighttime routine. If your priorities are your family and children, then create a nighttime routine that revolves around them.
"Prioritizing what sparks joy is at the heart of all the tips I shared above. Keeping this philosophy at the center of everything I do helps me focus on what I value." - Marie Kondo
