A former civil servant had to hide away in embarrassment for five hours as she tried to dodge media reporters after her sessions in court today over bribery charges.
34-year-old Fatihah Azmi pleaded guilty to two charges of accepting bribes amounting to RM 320, five years ago. She was ordered to pay a fine of RM4000 for her crime.
Fatimah, who worked as a former Assistant District Unity Officer at the Melaka State Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) received an RM320 bribe from a person named Mohd. Yusri Jaafar, in which the transaction was made 5th and 6th November 2017 respectively, at Malayan Banking Berhad in Kuala Lumpur and Maybank Islamic Berhad in the Melaka Tengah district.
Imagine accepting a couple of hundred ringgits worth of bribes only to be caught and ordered to pay a fine that's tenfold of that amount.
