A wife from Tampin, Negeri Sembilan had to endure the nightmare of discovering her husband's dead body, who was found in a state of being tied up, in their empty rented house in Kampung Chenaga, Repah just this afternoon.
The victim, 26-year-old Mohd. Mazlan Mahadi was confirmed dead by paramedics who arrived at the scene. According to a good friend of the victim's wife, 38-year-old Aina Kamaruzaman, who lives nearby, was asked to rush to the crime scene by the wife, 26-year-old Maztura Osman.
"When I arrived, firefighters helped to pry open the door, which was locked. At this time, my friend had already spotted her husband from outside the house windows," Aina said. "My friend went to Pulau Gadong, Melaka for almost a week and the couple just celebrated their son's birthday last Saturday. Her husband then returned to their rented house in Tampin," she explained in an interview.
The couple often did charity work for a non-governmental organization (NGO) to aid with the recently established religious school in the area and according to Aina, she could not recall the deceased having any enemies.
Tampin District Police Chief, Superintendent Anuwal Ab Wahab stated that further investigations are currently being carried out by the criminal division of the Tampin Police Headquarters (IPD) and the Forensics Division of the Negeri Sembilan Contingent Headquarters (IPK).
According to him, based on the initial investigation, he suspected that there was a criminal element in the death based on the condition of the body found in a tied-up condition. "We believe the suspect is an individual known to the victim as there was no sign of a break-in into the rental house."
